If you're reading this, chances are you already know quite a bit about ClearPores. You'll know that ClearPores is a 3-part acne treatment system, which consists of:

  • a deep wash,

  • a medicated moisturising cream

  • a herbal supplement which claims to provide a powerful therapy to clear up the conditions that cause acne from the inside out.

What you really want to know is...is ClearPores actually any good?

How Does ClearPores Work?

The Topicals

The Deep Body/Facial Wash and Deep Body/Facial Protection Cream work by using Salicylic Acid to work as a keratolytic agent
i.e to remove dead skin cells, and in doing so, unclog the pores, which reduces the likelihood of fresh eruptions occurring.  Salicylic acid also has a mild antiseptic effect.

The Tablets

The tablets are made to a herbal formulation which works by reducing the activity of the skin sebaceous glands.  These glands are responsible for producing the skin's natural oils, which are necessary for its health and elasticity.  The sebaceous glands of acne sufferers are normally over-active, causing an excess amount of oil to be produced.  This over-production is the chief cause of the pimples, pustules, and cysts that we refer to as acne.

By encouraging the body to produce only a normal amount of oil, ClearPores tablets attack acne at source, and for this reason as often referred to an an example of an "Accutane alternative", since Accutane works in exactly the same way.  The big difference is that you don't get the nasty side effects associated with Accutane.

While companies like Marabou, which is responsible for producing ClearPores are not able to provide the same body of evidence that massively-resourced drug companies like Roche, which funds Accutane are able to produce, what research there is suggests that bioherbaceutical alternatives like ClearPores do the job and do it well.

The recommended usage for ClearPores tablets is that they are taken for a period of 2 -5 months in order to bring the acne under control.  You may then need to take a reduced maintenance dose, but many people do not need this.

Conscious that there are always concerns about the effectiveness of traditional "drugs", especially those purchased over the internet, the people at ClearPores have sought to demonstrate the reliability of their product by seeking endorsements not from celebrities, but from members of the medical community, including medical doctors and herbalists.

So...Is It Safe & Does It Work? - The Clinical Evidence

Salicylic Acid, the chief active ingredient found in ClearPores Body/Face Wash and Cream has been shown by at least two clinical trials to be effective in the treatment of acne:

Zander E, Weisman S. Treatment of acne vulgaris with salicylic acid pads. Clin Ther 1992;14:247-53.

Shalita AR. Comparison of a salicylic acid cleanser and a benzoyl peroxide wash in the treatment of acne vulgaris. Clin Ther 1989;11:264-7.

In common with most other herbal preparations, the ClearPores supplement hasn't been subjected to Western-style clinical trials, but the ingredients (Dandelion Root, Burdock Root, Aloe Vera, Yellow Dock, Echinacea purpurea, Red clover, Sarsaparilla Root, Licorice Root, Turmeric, Atlantic Kelp, Cayenne, Tea Tree Oil) have long been associated with naturopathetic/Chinese herbal treatment of acne, skin inflammation and similar skin problems.

Since they contain natural, rather than chemically produced substances, ClearPores is treated as a "dietary supplement" by the FDA, and as such, is not subject to review for effectiveness. However, all ingredients in the product have been passed as safe by the FDA.

If you want to stick to products which have been subjected to standard clinical trials, you might try Acnease, a similar product, which has been demonstrated to be 95% effective in reducing teen acne, and 80% for adult acne.

Guarantees:

6-month money back guarantee, providing you've tried ClearPores for at least 90 days.

Other Benefits and Free Bonuses

I know from my own dealings with them as a customer that Marabou is very much a "hands-on" company. It seems to understand that acne is one of those problems wheret people want to seek and and get support to help them through the most trying moments.

A purchase of ClearPores also buys access to their members' only skin care site and user forum, which we found an enormous help in learning how best to use the products and to stay positive through the worst of it all.

You also get other goodies such as a free dead skin removal washcloth and extra supplements, plus a reliable pre and post sales service via e-mail and telephone.

Yes, But What Do Users Think About ClearPores?

If you do a search for user reviews of ClearPores across the internet, you will undoubtedly find some negative reviews.  You'll also find negative comments concerning just about every other acne treatment as well, regardless of whether they are prescribed or over-the-counter.  It's not just the way of the world, it's also indicative of the fact that like all medicines, some acne treatments are more effective for one group of people than others - we don't know exactly why or how, they just are.

I know from personal experience that ClearPores does work, at least for my family. With a little luck, it will do for you as well, but if it doesn't, you can always ask for your money back.  I never had call to do so, but judging from the interaction I had with their efficient support team, I can't imagine you'd have any problem getting them to honor their guarantee.

Here's what other satisfied customers (both on independently of the ClearPores website) have to say about the product:

I am using ClearPores stuff for over 6 months now, currently only Deep Wash.

I was recommended to use it by a friend from my gym, since he had the same problem like me - back acne because of damn filth and sweat in the gym. he said it almost 100% helped him so I decided to give it a go.

First two week I had some, almost no noticable result (I used the complete system, with herbal supplement), but I guess it takes time for herbal stuff to "get inside the skin" and start working. About one month into clear pores stuff, my acne was reduced significantly, almost 90%, I had only several spots on my back (I had very little acne on my face, they were gone), and I was still regular at the gym.

I've taken the clearpores stuff for 3 weeks and my skin is almost clear. how is it going for you. I still have dark patches from the really bad ones. but I am using that hydroquinone stuff for it.

Everything so far is working great. some people don't understand that another reason for breakouts could be because of hormones. I've been wanted something including a pill, so I've seen this one day so I figure "Just TRY it". Fifty-dollars is something but not much if you've tried everything. I love the fact that almost everything is herbal. I'm getting less breakouts and can actually go into public with no make-up on. THANKS

Frankly, we have tried many things for my daughter's skin - we saw ClearPores on the internet because I read where those specific herbs were beneficial to acne. ClearPores keeps the condition at bay - better than anything else we have tried.
