Using Contraceptive
Hormones
As A Treatment For Acne
Some progestin-based
contraceptives have been shown to offer a significant degree of relief to
sufferers of mild to moderate acne. However, this treatment option is
obviously limited to females.
Choosing an effective
brand of contraceptive is of necessity a question of trial and error, so
that you may have to try several brands before finding one that both suits
your body chemistry and alleviates the acne.
If you are very young –
i.e under 16, both you and your parents may want to think carefully about
whether it feels appropriate for you to be using hormones to suppress acne.
If you older and
thinking about planning a family, you’ll obviously need to consider other
options for managing your acne, as your fertility will be interrupted as
long as the contraceptive is used.
