Treatment For Mild-Moderate Acne:
Dermastyle Light Pen

Does Dermastyle Acne Light Really Work?

The last year has seen the launch of a home version of non-ablative light therapy.

Licensed by the FDA for use on mild to moderate cases of acne, the Dermastyle Light offers an affordable alternative for those of us who don’t have the money for expensive spa treatments. In this case, "affordable" doesn't have to limit effectiveness – results show that over 70% of those who used the DermaStyle reported visual improvements to their skin within the first week, and many within the first 24 hours.

The Dermastyle works differently to laser treatments in that it does not rely on thermal energy to destroy “bad” skin calls. Instead, it uses CHROMA 2™ LED technology, which provides a combination of blue and red light.

Research shows that blue light is effective in killing the bacteria that causes skin blemishes deep within the skin, while red light will reduce inflammation and redness in the skin that can be caused by the bacteria or other skin conditions. Red light also decreases the healing time of lesions or pimples that have already broken through the skin.

You are able to set the Dermastyle to emit red or blue light, or a combination of both:

Blue light – Feel a blemish starting? Use the blue light to help kill the bacteria before the blemish ever shows.

Red light – If a blemish has already surfaced, use the red light to heal the blemish fast. The red light also has an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin reducing redness and swelling, leaving your skin soft and smooth.

Blue/Red light combo – Use both wavelengths together to remove current blemishes on your skin, and prevent future ones from surfacing.

Of course, since it is designed for home use, the Dermastyle light isn’t as powerful as a clinic laser, but what it lacks in output, it makes up for in convenience.  There are none of the unpleasant side effects usually associated with more powerful laser therapy and no having to book and keep appointments with your dermatologist – you can sit watching the TV and do a 10 minute daily treatment yourself at the first sign of a breakout! It's even small enough to carry around in your purse or pocket.
